Love the music and the chocolate
Same!!
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST COMMERCIAL……LOVE THE SONG AND THE CHOCOLATE…. NICE JOB
Absolutely non sense add for a terrible chocolate in market.Hate it! So depressing!
Me too! I hate that commercial! I feel like I’m trying to get something out of my throat!
Why is there a child in a bed at end of commercial.??? It doesn’t make any sense at all. Looks like a little boy laying in bed. What does that have to do with the woman looking in the mirror . Very confused by that
It started with the baby in the bed. It’s the baby girl who becomes a woman, and then ages….etc.
She gets to do it again the next morning.
Is about living each day to its fullest, a lifetime in a day
The child is representing a new person who will eat dove and go through the same life cycle as the girl did. Just like she started a little girl, now they’re starting a little boy.
Debbie…its about the little girl growing into womanhood.
Debbie, It symbolizes the love for Dove Chocolate from one generation to the next.
Winning combo Dove and Edith Piaf!
Love the French song for Dove chocolate by Edith Pilaf!
Is it an Italian opera, or French?
Can you give me. The exact name of the song?
Thank you
Cheryl
Edith Piaf also wrote a very beautiful song regarding her former Husband, who died in a plane crash. The HYMN of LOVE. It was/is an absolutely beautiful, romantic love song. A Hymn of love to her deceased Husband. How beautiful that a Widow could compose such a beautiful song in honor of her deceased Spouse. You, who love Edith Piaf should research the HYMN OF LOVE, composed, and sung by Edith Piaf. You won’t regret it. It’s absolutely Lovely.
Does this lady have an album of these songs.
This lady, France’s most famous singer, Edith Piaf , born in 1915, had a long and illustrious career in France, discovered in Paris in 1935, and is still famous to this day. Sadly, she died in 1963. Yes, her music is preserved and still available to this day.
Best commercial ever!
Marcel Cerdan was not her husband, but was her lover. She did write “Hymne a la’amour” however.
So what? Every other country doesn’t live by American Victorian standards. Love is love.
hymne a l’amour
Where’s the traslation?
Love this song. I’m from a French background and it just seems to make me feel good when I hear it. The chocolate is very good too.
Exactly the feeling I have. I am of French Acadian descendent on both sides of my family learning to speak English at the age of 5. Beautiful commercial. I indeed ‘regret nothing’…….
Mmm. Any Francophones in the house that would like to translate lyrics for an Anglophone? This film is beautiful…
No, nothing at all,/ I regret nothing/It’s paid for, swept away, forgotten /I don’t give a damn about the past
No, nothing at all, /I regret nothing /Neither the good that people have done me/Nor the bad, it’s all the same to me
No, nothing at all,/I regret nothing/Because my life and my joys/Today, they begin with you
Thank you I really like the song, thank you for telling me what she said!!!
Thank you!?
Hate the commercial. Depressing as hell. I feel the lady dies at the end. Not what I want from my chocolate!
Thank you ❣️
Thanks you, Suzanne. Well done! Beautiful translation of a classic love song. More young people should open their minds to new music, even if it is old.
“I don’t give a damn about the past” is a euphemism for the french, which literally means “I f**k myself of the past, and I’m told by a french person that the expression could offend people, and wouldn’t be used in polite company. I’m surprised some french people haven’t brought this up.
I loved the combination of this awesome song and the idea of enjoying Dove Chocolate. You hit the bulls eye! Perfect message, Guys! Thank you.
Couldn’t say it any better. 🙂
Was there a French movie in the late 50’s or early 60’s that had that song.
I BOUGHT A CD TEN YEARS AGO. EDITH PIAF, ALL FRENCH SONGS THIS SONG FROM THE DOVE COMMERCIAL WAS ON IT. SO, SO BEAUTIFUL. YOU WILL ALSO, LOVE THE SONG, LA VIEN ROSE, LOVELY! ENJOY! I’AM NOW PLAYING IT EVERYTHING! SWEET! FUN, FUN!
All hail to Dove Chocolate!
I heard the singing in their TV Commercial (I love both TV Commercials)
I tried my luck on YOUTUBE and by golly there it is –
Edith Piaf …I play it a whole bunch, like two hours at a time.
Thanks to Dove Chocolate I now have a new interest in French singing.
I will buy some Dove Chocolate to eat while listening…
Thank you again…
nice
Don’t know, but it was also used in Bull Durham (1988) along with a 2nd song.

There was a brief segment of this song used in the movie “Inception”
I love this commercial . Thank you to everyone who asked all the questions and the answers I was wondering about. I love the Internet .
Terrible song gives music a bad name
I agree, Yvonne! Her voice is awful!
It is a style of singing popular in France in the 1920s-1930s. The singer, Edith Pilaf, was France’s’ most famous, most popular singer of the time. She died in 1963. It’s understandable that Americans four generations later might not be able to appreciate her work (I don’t like it either); but she was a super star of her day. Different cultures, different generations, different standards of song/voice beauty.
Wonderful expression of female joy and freedom of life in every life transition! Beautiful! Inspiring! Great job!
Love this commercial.
Best commercial of 2016 for sure.
Terrible never liked her voice ghastly
Love her & enjoy her ads. Saw her in hotel bar outside Paris on my first trip to France….. & Ill forget nothing about her, that trip, my loves, my husband & children. Je t’aime, Mme Piaf!
Awesome commercial, love the song, ?love the theme,?? love the chocolate. ?
This Dove commercial is a wonderful celebration of a life well live. Of course miserable people will find something to fault and miss the point. Rein de rein is perfect for this theme. It is what all of us will know if we live long enough and age with grace. Very well done and indicative of an old soul creativeness.
Who are the actresses?
Thanks
Thank you for translation. I love song makes me feel both sad and happy..at 69 it’s a song to sing and live by each day that’s left to me ..
Thanks, took me a while to find this site. Loved the song and music. Thanks for Lyrics and translation everyone. Reminded me of another French Singer I loved to listen to and was very popular in the Seventies World Wide and even appeared on Ed Sullivan, Mirelle Matieu.
I’m going to look up Edith Piaf as she has a similar voice and style. Though I don’t speak or understand French I love listening to these types of songs. Very Romantic, the French! FMH
I adore this song. When it comes on I just stop and listen. It makes me happy. The chocolate is great too!!!!
You have to be tone deaf the music and voice are horrible
You, my dear, have NO taste, musical or otherwise. PS: since Yvonne is a French name and you are disrespecting a French national treasure, perhaps you should consider a name change.
She sounds as though she has a bad case of bronchitis and is about to spew it all up
terrible
Robin you have no taste or maybe you are deaf
Thank you, Robin! Very well said! Edith is indeed a national treasure!
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I absolutely love Piaf! Thank you Robin.
Also of interest. The singer Edith Piaf changed her name to Piaf, which means “little dove” in French. Very apprapo for the chocolatier.
Why not do the song in English so all of can understand it. ENGLISH!
Because even the phone book sounds romantic in French. FRENCH!
Doesn’t hold a candle to Italian – the REAL language of love and romance!
No, nothing
No, I do not regret anything
It is paid, swept away, forgotten
I do not care about the past
No, nothing
No, I do not regret anything
Neither the good,
Neither the evil, it all equals me
No, nothing
No, I do not regret anything
Because my life, because my joys
Today, it begins with you
“No, I do not care about the past” is a euphemism for the french, which literally means “I f**k myself of the past, and I’m told by a french person that the expression could offend people, and wouldn’t be used in polite company. I’m surprised some french people haven’t brought this up.
Typical American comment. Not everything revolves around English and the USA.
Love it in French
This song also plays o “Babe, Pig in the City”. Love love love it
I fell in love with this song while watching Inception with Leo DiCaprio. Thank you for all the information about this incredible song.
I love the commercial! It makes a person feel young.
Please continue with this style. The group of girls I associate
With are young at heart and adventurous . We consider
Ourselves as lucious, just like a dove candy. The song would
Go with any avenue a person would travel. Go for it!
Very poor commercial. Most people miss the connection to a French singer and see it as depressing. It does not make the product appealing.
Omg please stop this commerical it’s sicking
I think you meant “sickening.” I hate this commercial and the chocolate!
I agree
Does she sing what a beautiful day in English at the end of the ad?
I saw this commercial and fell in love with her face. She has the most lived, loved, beautiful face I have ever seen. Ever. She is amazing.
Very rude to comment on the quality of the voice, remember this is well before the age of high def. And the recordings were played on a Victrola. Get educated about the history of music an perhaps that will enhance your appreciation of this classic ,historical musical piece and the artist, also known as the French canary.
I don’t need to be educated about what I hear. She sounds to me like a French canary with a frog in her throat!! Terrible…
I hope this chocolate doesn’t give you abnormal, disfiguring, vertical wrinkles like the silver haired woman’s. The ad upsets me with this final image.
I Definitely Agree with Nancy. Sugar from non-fruit ages you almost as quickly as smoking and meth. If the song is dedicated to Edith Pilaf she died at 47 and looked like she was 70 her final years. Great job Mars Company, so glad your 4 children are in the top 25 billionaires. So sad how the sheep are influenced by cheap chocolate.
It’s PIAF. No L please
As most of us, unless you have millions to spend on plastic surgery, this is what you have to look forward to in your older years. I think I look damn great at 70! Oh, I love Edith Pilaf having grown up with my parents playing her music. Eat A Dove BAR!!!!
Oh My god the first time I heard this song I literally fell In love with this song.
I just had to find the words in English two to know the tune meaning and now I love it even more
.
Absolutely loved this song and, of course, Dove chocolate. Thank you for introducing me to this passionate music and awesome chocolate. I just recently discovered the name of the song and wonder now the entire translation. Thank you again!
Song is wonderful and read and understand the message in the song
I love this song, I’m going to learn to sing it. Beautiful voice she had.
Hate this song. Makes me gag.
Why, do you know something no one else does about the meaning of the words?
Love the song … what are the words in English?
This commercial just came on TV again. I love the song, music. Dove chocolates delicious. I am sorry, seeing the lady with wrinkles ruins the whole commercial. Not attractive at all. Leaves a negative picture in my mind each time I see Dove candies.
You, too, my dear will some day be old. Is this what bothers you most?
No, nothing
No, I do not regret anything
It is paid, swept away, forgotten
I do not care about the past
No, nothing
No, I do not regret anything
Neither the good,
Neither the evil, it all equals me
No, nothing
No, I do not regret anything
Because my life, because my joys
Today, it begins with you
Thank you—Beautiful song, beautiful woman. God bless old age!
I hate this commercial. I hate the music and the lady’s voice. I hate the French language….Love the chocolate!!!
Her voice is ghastly
What are the French words in the song — the last line in French with translation?
I was wondering, in which language was the lady singing in the Dove chocolates commercial? You don’t roll your “R’S” in French–do you?
Worst commercial on tv. Words do not express how much I hate this commercial, the music, the actors, and the singing make me never want to eat this brand again.
You are so right
She is terrible
Absolutly Love that commercial & Edith Pilaf. Thank You.
Absolutly Love that commercial & Edith Pilaf. Thank You.
Absolutely Love that commercial, also Edith Pilaf. Thank You
I love Edith Piaf. I have for 50 years. Nice ad two or three times, but the company is repeating it too, too often. I don’t want the repetition to make me, or anyone, tired of hearing her voice!
First time I heard it I nearly threw up
it was so ghastly
sounded like someone with lung cancer
Love the song and singing but it’s like going to a Latin mass.
What’s the point if you can’t understand a single word?
HIDEOUS song…..I turn it off every time comes on. Will NEVER buy this candy because for he commercial
Please stop this horrible commercial thank goodness fr the mute button.
Its disgusting
thank goodness for the mute button.
Its disgusting
Most annoying song and singer ever!! I have to grab the remote and hit the mute button every time.
Wonderful song! Wonderful singer! Love you, Edith!
hate this freaking song! sounds like shit and i’m fucking sick of hearing it after all these months!!! fuck off with this
Most sickening commercial on TV revolting
So, if I interpret this commercial correctly, eating this candy makes you age quickly.
Hmmm . . .
I absolutely HATE THE COMMERCIAL. why can’t you put an AMERICAN SINGER on this commercial. It reminds me of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.
IT MAKES ME NO WANT TO BUY YOUR PRODUCT.
IT IS VERY ANNOYING.
I think the song resonates with the human soul. It strikes a chord and makes me want to learn the lines and SING -like crazy!! With what sounds like a full orchestra accompanying the lyrics, it is inspiring to listen to the singer correctly enunciate and sing with force……… enjoy it.
Please make it stop! Do a new commercial Dove, Please!
I agree i’ts horrible
she sounds as though she’s going to spit up mucus
WORST COMMERCIAL. CAN NOT STAND THAT FRENCH SINGING.
I agree you have good taste
Who are the actresses/models in the commercial? Is Helena Christensen the dark haired lady in the middle? Is the last image face artificially aged? I think that by not saying anything about Dove chocolates they waste their advertising money because most of us don’t really watch commercials enough to read and know what sponsored the ad. I had to stop and actually watch and search to know what is was advertising.
I can’t stand her singing voice. I either mute the tv or I change the channel. Normally I can tune things like that out.
