Music: Come and Get Your Love by Redbone
JC Penney should keep Redbone’s song going. I never paid any attention to JCP until the ad came on. Redbone has thousands of loyal fans even now. And there is constant positive reaction and talk on the Fan site is about JCP.
I love the song and was surprised it was used mainstream commercial with the words “Hell…What’s the matter with your head?…”. Then someone dumbed it down and completely destroyed the beautiful original bass chorus line. Figures. The new version makes me gag.
I noticed JC Penny for the first time i years when this first cmae on my TV. The new version makes me want to break my TV and NEVER shop at JC Penny ever again! Just a way to avoid paying some of the royalties to the original Native American writers and artists, JC Penny heap big WHITE MAN once again lying, cheating, & stealing from native peoples. My .02 anyway, Anne
It’s Hail not Hell… Lolly wrote the song.. look up the lyrics before you make a statement like that! And mainstream TV uses worse words every day!!
Thank you for correcting that. I hadn’t noticed that we could comment. HAIL, HAIL…
JC Penney: Nothing makes a commercial worse than interrupting the program you are watching than a commercial with a favorite song ruined by a fake music version of it. Can you please replace your commercials with the original version of CAGYL. Don’t be cheap by avoiding a royalty payment. That makes you look bad.
I left a comment that JC Penney should use the original recording when airing their commercial. Sadly it seems to have been deleted. So here I go again. JC Penney, it hurts so much to hear fake music of “Come And Get Your Love” when such wonderful recordings of it are available. Don’t be cheap about royalties.
Because of the orignal Redbone song being played…I bought pearl earrings! I had not been to Penny’s in years. My bill even went to my last address from 3 years ago…
This new “Come and Get Your Love” will drive people away. It is not a happy version at all. Bring back Redbone, please.
Lolly Vegas had the most wonderful voice. With J.C. Penny using Redbone…It was like a snake charmer drawing the snakes into a basket. I was the snake and I came into Penny’s shopping.
Thank again…and use Redbone!
I am a loyal Redbone fan and have to tell you that changing the original song was not in your best interest. Those of us who are loyal to Redbone have had many many conversations about how terrible it sounds and that we will most likely not shop at JC PENNY because they let this happen. Sure you have to sell your product any way you possibly can, dumbing down an original classic isn’t the way to do it. Lolly, Pat, Tony, Pete, Butch and Art wouldn’t appreciate they way its been butchered, hmm kind of like the way the Native Americans were butchered. Change it back!!! You will get more ants with honey than you will with vinegar.
Thanks for your consideration in this matter, I’m sure you will come to the right conclusion.
I LOVED the commercial with the Redbone song. It was great and always got my attention. Now I just turn the channel because it is not Redbone anymore. For a few cents they have decided to take away from this band. It disgusts me.They really should change it back to the original Redbone song. It looks bad for JC Penney.
It really bothers me that a company as large as JC Penney would try to use original music without paying royalties. The royalty question should have been thoroughly researched by the ad agency responsible for this campaign that has now reduced a beloved song song by a Native American/Mexican American group into elevator music. I have no respect for people who or companies that try to rip off hardworking artists. I will give my money to Macy’s, Sears and Kohl’s.
JCP…You.should only air Redbone’s original version..The REAL Come and Get Your Love!
